Finance Ministry to run financial inclusion camps nationwide from 21 October
The Department of Financial Services said banks will hold camps in 2.70 lakh gram panchayats and urban local bodies from 21 October to 31 December 2026 for Jan Dhan, insurance and pension enrolment.
The Department of Financial Services (DFS) in the Ministry of Finance will run a nationwide campaign from 21 October 2026 to 31 December 2026 to bring more people under government financial inclusion schemes. Banks will hold camps covering 2.70 lakh Gram Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies, the ministry said in a release on 19 October 2026.
What Happened
According to the release, the campaign aims at saturation of financial inclusion schemes, meaning that every eligible person at the village and urban-ward level is covered. During the campaign, banks will conduct camps for:
- Enrolment under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY)
- Aadhaar seeding in PMJJBY and PMSBY
- Opening of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) accounts
- Re-KYC for existing PMJDY and other savings accounts
- Generating Central KYC (C-KYC) identification numbers where pending
- Updating nominations in savings accounts and for facilities such as lockers, where pending
- Awareness sessions on financial inclusion schemes, digital frauds and 'Aapki Poonji, Aapka Adhikar', on unclaimed financial assets
- Sourcing Kisan Credit Card (KCC) applications for eligible PM-Kisan beneficiaries
- Enrolment under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana for the upcoming Rabi season
The ministry said a preparatory meeting with senior management of banks and State Level Bankers' Committees (SLBC) was held on 19 October 2026. Progress will be monitored by state administrations, banks and DFS.
What It Means
For account holders, the camps offer a way to finish pending paperwork close to home. Re-KYC means updating the identity and address details a bank holds for an account; the release lists it for existing Jan Dhan and other savings accounts. A nominee is the person who can claim the money in an account or a locker, and the release says banks will update nominations wherever they are pending.
The camps will also include sessions on digital frauds. Anyone who has lost money to an online fraud can report it at https://cybercrime.gov.in or call the helpline 1930. Complaints about a bank's service can be filed with RBI at https://cms.rbi.org.in.
Eligible PM-Kisan beneficiaries can apply for a Kisan Credit Card at the camps, and the release ties crop-insurance enrolment to the upcoming Rabi season.
