Where to complain, by problem

A tip to a newsroom is not a complaint. These are the authorities that can act on one; all of them are free.

Insider trading, front-running or price rigging

SEBI, Office of Informant Protection

File a Voluntary Information Disclosure form, online or on paper, as set out on SEBI's website (Chapter IIIA of SEBI's insider trading regulations). SEBI keeps the informant's identity confidential and can pay a reward when the information leads to money being recovered. Complaints against a listed company, broker or adviser go to SCORES.

A scheme taking deposits or promising fixed returns

RBI's Sachet portal, and your state police's Economic Offences Wing

Sachet routes the complaint to the regulator or state authority responsible for that kind of scheme.

A bank, NBFC or loan app: charges, mis-selling, misconduct

RBI Integrated Ombudsman (CMS)

Complain to the lender's grievance officer first. If it does not reply within 30 days, or you are not satisfied, file at CMS. It costs nothing.

National Cyber Crime helpline 1930 and portal

Questions

Will Oquilia publish my name?

No, not without your written consent. We do not publish a source's name, employer or city, and we never tell the company we are reporting on who gave us the information.

Can Oquilia get my money back?

No. We are a news organisation, not a regulator, police force, court or recovery agency. Our reporting can bring a pattern to light and to the regulators' attention, but to recover money or stop harassment, use the official channels on this page.

How do I report insider trading in India?

To SEBI. Its Office of Informant Protection accepts a Voluntary Information Disclosure form, online or on paper, under Chapter IIIA of the insider trading regulations, keeps the informant's identity confidential, and can pay a reward when the information leads to money being recovered. You can also tell our desk, and we will look at whether there is a story.

Where do I report a Ponzi scheme or a scheme promising fixed returns?

On RBI's Sachet portal (sachet.rbi.org.in), which passes it to the authority responsible, and to your state police's Economic Offences Wing. Tell us too: schemes like these usually have many victims.

How do I send documents?

After you send a tip, we email you. Reply to that email with your documents, or write to editor@oquilia.com. Remove passwords, OTPs and full account numbers first.

Do you pay for tips?

No. We never pay for information and never charge anyone for anything to do with a tip.
