The Enforcement Directorate's (ED) Madurai sub-zonal office has returned Rs 37,57,697 to investors in a money-laundering case against Bluemax Capital Solutions Pvt Ltd and others, the agency said on 30 October 2026. The refund follows an order of the Special Court under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), Madurai, passed under Section 8(8) of the Act, which allows attached property to be restored to people who lost money.
What Happened
The ED said its investigation began from FIRs registered by Tamil Nadu Police on complaints from investors, under Sections 120B, 406, 409 and 420 of the IPC, Section 5 of the Tamil Nadu Protection of Interests of Depositors (TNPID) Act, 1997, and Sections 3, 4, 5 and 21 of the Banning of Unregulated Deposit Schemes (BUDS) Act, 2019.
According to the ED, the company collected more than Rs 100 crore from the public, telling investors their money would be deployed in forex, commodities, gold and other trading and promising attractive returns. The ED said the company was not authorised to undertake forex trading and that the funds were not deployed as represented. The agency alleges that part of the money was routed through bank accounts of other entities and persons, and part was used to buy crypto assets and movable and immovable property.
The ED said it searched several premises and that assets, including crypto-currency, valued at about Rs 8.89 crore were seized, frozen and attached. It has filed a prosecution complaint before the Special Court (PMLA), Madurai, and the trial is in progress. These are allegations, not findings of guilt; the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court, and due process continues.
What It Means
For investors in this scheme, the ED said restitution to other victims whose applications the Special Court has allowed is in progress. Restitution under Section 8(8) runs through the Special Court, so money is returned only to those whose claims the court accepts.
The case is also a reminder to check whether a firm is authorised before handing over money on a promise of high returns. Unregulated deposit schemes can be reported on RBI's Sachet portal at https://sachet.rbi.org.in, and online investment fraud at https://cybercrime.gov.in or helpline 1930.
This report describes enforcement actions and allegations on the public record, attributed to the officials cited. An order, FIR or chargesheet is not a conviction; parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
