The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a prosecution complaint against FIITJEE Limited and two of its directors before the Special PMLA Court in Ghaziabad, according to an ED release dated 15 October 2026. The agency alleges that Rs 85.79 crore of fees collected from students was retained and misappropriated, and it has asked the court to confiscate assets worth Rs 71.88 crore.

What Happened

The ED's Lucknow Zonal Office began its money-laundering investigation on the basis of four FIRs registered by police in Noida, Greater Noida and Bhopal. According to the ED, the FIRs allege that FIITJEE collected Rs 2.8 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh per student in advance for two- to four-year coaching programmes for examinations such as JEE, and that centres later closed without notice after faculty left over unpaid salaries.

The ED says its investigation found that FIITJEE closed 32 centres between May 2024 and February 2025, leaving 14,411 enrolled students without the coaching they had paid for, and that the company kept admitting students to programmes running up to March 2029. The agency has treated Rs 85.79 crore, the fees it alleges were retained and misappropriated, as proceeds of crime.

According to the ED, the two directors drew Rs 24.92 crore in salary from 2022-23 onwards while other employees' salaries were delayed. The agency earlier searched seven premises, seized Rs 10 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 4.86 crore, and provisionally attached properties worth Rs 66.92 crore on 9 October 2026. Under the PMLA, a provisional attachment must be confirmed by the Adjudicating Authority. The Noida Police has also filed a chargesheet in the underlying case, and the ED says its investigation is continuing.

These are allegations, not findings of guilt; the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court, and due process continues.

What It Means

For families who paid fees in advance, the release does not say whether any money will be returned. The ED has asked the court to convict the accused and to confiscate the seized and attached assets worth Rs 71.88 crore. Students and parents whose fees have not been refunded can file a consumer complaint through the National Consumer Helpline (1915) or e-Daakhil.
