D. Srinivas, Grama Palana Officer (GPO), Mosam village, Mancherial district, was caught by Telangana's Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on 29 October 2026 while accepting a bribe of Rs 22,000, according to the bureau's press note. The trap was carried out by the ACB's Adilabad Range.

What Happened

According to the ACB, the official demanded and accepted Rs 22,000 from a complainant for submitting a report to higher authorities to correct the name of the complainant's father in the revenue records. The bureau said that correction would let the complainant and his brother obtain succession to agricultural land.

The ACB said the official accepted the money at his office during the trap, and that the bribe amount was recovered from his possession. The bureau alleges that he demanded and accepted the payment for showing official favour by misusing his official position.

The ACB said the official is being arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Karimnagar for judicial remand. It said the case is under investigation and that the complainant's details have been withheld for security reasons.

These are allegations, not findings of guilt; the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court, and due process continues.

What It Means

The case concerns a routine service many rural families need: correcting a name in land revenue records so that agricultural land can pass to heirs. The ACB says the name and details of a person who complains about a bribe demand are kept secret.

Telangana's ACB asks members of the public to call its toll-free number 1064 if any public servant demands a bribe. The bureau can also be reached on WhatsApp at 9440446106, and on Facebook and X as Telangana ACB, according to the press note, which adds that its QR code is displayed in government offices.
