Abhay Singh, a constable posted at the Badgaon outpost of Nanta police station in Kota city district, was arrested on 25 October 2026 by Rajasthan's Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). The ACB says its Kota unit caught him red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 from a complainant at the outpost.

What Happened

According to the ACB press note, the complainant told its Kota unit that a dumper had hit a motorcycle, which then collided with the complainant's car. In the dispute that followed, the dumper's owner filed a report against the complainant at Nanta police station, and the constable was investigating that report. The ACB alleges that the constable demanded a bribe by threatening to falsely implicate the complainant in the case.

The ACB said it first verified the demand. During verification, according to the ACB, the constable accepted Rs 700 and asked for the remaining Rs 2,000 to be paid later. A trap team then acted on the direction of ACB headquarters, and the ACB says the constable was caught accepting Rs 2,000 from the complainant at the Badgaon outpost.

The ACB said questioning of the accused and further action are under way, and a search of his residence is being carried out. The bureau said it will register a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and investigate further.

These are allegations, not findings of guilt; the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court, and due process continues.

What It Means

The case shows how a routine police complaint, here a road-accident dispute, can become an occasion for a bribe demand, as the ACB describes it. A person whose complaint or case is being handled by a police officer does not have to pay to have it handled fairly.

Anyone in Rajasthan who is asked for a bribe can contact the ACB on its toll-free number 1064 or its WhatsApp helpline 94135-02834, which the bureau says work round the clock. The ACB's note also says that a person against whom it registers a case can approach it directly to give their side, and that it decides on its investigation only after examining that explanation.
