The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) will hold 16 grievance redressal camps in cities across the country during November 2026, the regulator said in a press release dated 6 November 2026. The camps are part of its Grievance Resolution Month, meant to speed up the resolution of pending complaints in the insurance sector.
What Happened
IRDAI said it is observing November 2026 as Grievance Resolution Month, with the aim of resolving pending insurance grievances quickly. As part of this, 16 camps will be held between 13 November and 27 November 2026.
The camps organised by the Life Insurance Council, the industry body of life insurers, are in Guwahati (13 November), Jaipur (14 November), Chandigarh (16 November), Lucknow (18 November), Pune (20 November), Ahmedabad (21 November), Thiruvananthapuram (24 November) and Bengaluru (27 November).
The camps organised by the General Insurance Council, the industry body of general insurers, are in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh (16 November), Chennai (17 November), Bhopal (18 November), Dehradun (20 November), Kolkata (20 November), Bhubaneswar (21 November), Patna (23 November) and Ranchi (25 November).
According to the release, the venue for each camp will be announced by the insurance councils.
What It Means
If you have a complaint against a life or general insurer that is still unresolved, such as a delayed or rejected claim, these camps give you a chance to raise it in person. IRDAI said it encourages policyholders to attend to seek prompt resolution of pending grievances.
The regulator also said the camps will help policyholders learn about the grievance redressal options available in the insurance sector, including the Insurance Ombudsman, an independent forum that hears complaints against insurers without any fee.
Life insurance complaints fall under the camps run by the Life Insurance Council, while health, motor and other general insurance complaints fall under those run by the General Insurance Council. Keep your policy number, claim papers and any letters from the insurer ready. Watch for the venue notices from the councils for your city, as the release does not give them.
