The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) searched several locations in Pune on 29 October 2026 in a bank fraud case against Aaj Ka Anand Papers Pvt Ltd, the agency said. The case was registered against the company, its directors and unknown public servants on a complaint by State Bank of India (SBI). The CBI case alleges a wrongful loss of Rs 81.66 crore to SBI.

What Happened

According to the CBI, the case alleges criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust and manipulation of accounts.

The CBI said the accused were allegedly involved in hiding or misappropriating business revenue, altering and falsifying books and electronic records, and criminal breach of trust. It was also alleged that funds were diverted through current accounts outside the designated banking channels without the consent of the consortium lenders, violating the conditions on which the loans were sanctioned, the agency said. A consortium is a group of banks that lend to the same borrower together.

The premises searched included offices and residential properties linked to the company's directors. The CBI said incriminating documents and digital evidence were recovered and are being examined to find the full extent of the alleged conspiracy, misappropriation and diversion of funds, and the role of everyone involved. Further investigation is in progress.

These are allegations, not findings of guilt; the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court, and due process continues.

What It Means

A CBI case and searches are steps in a criminal investigation, and the allegations will be tested at trial. The case concerns a company's borrowing and does not affect the deposits of SBI's ordinary customers.

The allegations centre on money moving outside the accounts the lenders had agreed on. Loan terms usually require a borrower to route its business through the lending banks so that they can monitor how the money is used; the CBI alleges that this condition was broken here.
