Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited reported a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 6,187 crore for the quarter ended 30 September 2026 (Q2 FY27), up 105.4% from Rs 3,012 crore a year earlier, according to a press release the company filed with the National Stock Exchange on 28 October 2026. Compared with the previous quarter, profit fell 6.2% from Rs 6,597 crore.

What Happened

In the company's filing with the National Stock Exchange, consolidated revenue for Q2 FY27 was Rs 22,066 crore. That is up 40.8% from Rs 15,670 crore in the same quarter a year earlier (YoY) and up 4.6% from Rs 21,105 crore in the previous quarter (QoQ). The company attributed the rise to higher volumes and an improved marketing mix.

EBITDA, which is earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, was Rs 10,192 crore. That is up 82.6% YoY and down 2.9% QoQ.

Profit after tax is stated after an exceptional item of Rs 363 crore, net of tax, in the quarter. Before that item, profit after tax was Rs 6,550 crore, up 117.5% YoY and 0.7% lower QoQ.

For the six months ended 30 September 2026, the filing shows revenue of Rs 43,171 crore against Rs 30,227 crore a year earlier, and profit after tax of Rs 12,784 crore against Rs 5,174 crore.

The company also said in the filing that it reduced net debt by Rs 3,090 crore during the quarter, with the ratio of net debt to EBITDA improving to 0.7 times from 0.9 times at the end of Q1 FY27. It said India Ratings upgraded its credit rating to AA+ (Stable), and that ICRA and CRISIL reaffirmed their ratings. It reported its highest-ever quarterly aluminium production of 649 thousand tonnes, up 5% YoY and 3% QoQ.

What It Means

For shareholders and lenders, the filing sets out how earnings and debt moved against both the same quarter last year and the previous quarter. Profit more than doubled on the year, but it was lower than in the June 2026 quarter.

The company's own release says higher volumes, a better marketing mix and favourable currency movement supported EBITDA, while a fall in prices on the London Metal Exchange, the benchmark market for metals, offset part of that gain.

These are the company's consolidated, unaudited figures as filed. The full results and the press release are available on the exchange's website and on the company's own website.
