Jakku Rajasekhar Reddy, District Youth and Sports Officer, Office of the District Youth and Sports Officer, Mahabubnagar, and Gore Umesh, a contract-based typist in the same office, were caught on 5 November 2026 accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh, according to Telangana's Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). The ACB alleges the money was demanded to process and approve pending catering bills and release a cheque of Rs 3.1 lakh.

What Happened

According to the ACB's Press Note No. 170, dated 5 November 2026, officials of its Mahabubnagar Range caught the two red-handed when, the ACB alleges, they demanded and accepted Rs 1 lakh from the complainant. The catering bill was for August 2026 and related to food supplied to sportspersons staying at the Volleyball Hostel of SATG, Mahabubnagar.

The ACB said the bribe money was recovered from the possession of the District Youth and Sports Officer. According to the ACB, the officer accepted the money on his own behalf and on behalf of the typist, under a prior understanding to share it. The ACB has alleged that the two abused their official positions and performed their public duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage.

The ACB said both were being arrested and produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Nampally, for judicial remand. The case is under investigation. The ACB said the complainant's details are being withheld for security reasons.

These are allegations, not findings of guilt; the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court, and due process continues.

What It Means

The case shows how a bribe demand can sit between a supplier and payment of a government bill: here, the money owed for meals served to young athletes at a state sports hostel.

Anyone asked for a bribe by a public servant in Telangana can call the ACB's toll-free number, 1064. The ACB says the name and details of a complainant are kept secret. Oquilia's guide to every state's anti-corruption helpline is at https://www.oquilia.com/report-a-bribe.
