Rajasthan's Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested the director, a lecturer and a teacher of Global B.Ed College in Barodiya, Banswara, on 23 October 2026 in a bribery case. The ACB says its Banswara unit caught the teacher red-handed accepting Rs 5,000 from a co-complainant, a student, and arrested the director and the lecturer for what it called a main role in the bribe demand.
What Happened
According to the ACB press note, students of the college complained to its Banswara unit that the director, the lecturer and the teacher were demanding bribes in return for helping students with low attendance through the full year and for issuing their internship relieving letters.
The ACB said it first verified the demand. During verification, according to the ACB, the director, the lecturer (who teaches political science) and the teacher (who teaches chemistry) were found to have demanded Rs 20,000 from each student and to have agreed to take the money.
A trap team then acted on the direction of ACB headquarters. The ACB says the teacher was caught taking Rs 5,000 in his own hands from the co-complainant. The director and the lecturer were also arrested, the bureau said, because it found they had played the main role in the demand.
The ACB said questioning of the accused and further action are under way, and that it will register a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and investigate further.
These are allegations, not findings of guilt; the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court, and due process continues.
What It Means
For students, the case is a reminder that attendance records and internship papers are part of a course and should not come at a price. The ACB alleges that the demand here was Rs 20,000 per student.
Anyone in Rajasthan who is asked for a bribe can contact the ACB on its toll-free number 1064 or its WhatsApp helpline 94135-02834, which the bureau says work round the clock. The ACB's note also says that a person against whom it registers a case can approach it directly to give their side.
