Sanjay Kumar Yadav, development officer, and Ritik Kumar Singh, junior assistant, both of the Panchayat Samiti office at Mundawar in Khairthal-Tijara district, were arrested by Rajasthan's Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on 29 October 2026 while accepting a bribe of Rs 65,000, according to the bureau's press note. The trap was laid by the ACB's Bhiwadi unit on the instructions of its Jaipur headquarters.

What Happened

According to the ACB, a complainant reported that his firm had earlier been given sanitation contracts in the Matour and Nagli Oja gram panchayats by Panchayat Samiti Mundawar. The bureau said the development officer was demanding Rs 65,000 for getting the measurement book filled in for the bills of those contracts and of pipeline work done by the firm, and was harassing the complainant. A measurement book is the official record of work measured against a contractor's bills.

The ACB said it verified the demand on 23 October 2026, and that during verification the development officer was found to have agreed to take Rs 65,000 from the complainant for the earlier contracts and the measurement book. The bureau said that in the trap on 29 October 2026, both officials were caught accepting Rs 65,000.

The ACB said the accused are being questioned and that it will register a case against them under the Prevention of Corruption Act and investigate further.

These are allegations, not findings of guilt; the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court, and due process continues.

What It Means

The case concerns payment for public works contracted by a panchayat samiti. The ACB's note says that a person against whom a case is registered can approach the bureau directly with their side or explanation, and that the bureau decides on the investigation only after examining it in detail.

Readers in Rajasthan who are asked for a bribe by an official can contact the ACB on its toll-free number 1064 or its WhatsApp helpline 94135-02834, which the bureau says work 24x7. Helplines for every state are listed in Oquilia's guide at https://www.oquilia.com/report-a-bribe.
