Power Finance Corporation (PFC), a government-owned lender to the power sector, reported net profit attributable to its owners of Rs 6,034.28 crore for the quarter ended 30 September 2026 (Q2 of FY27), according to its unaudited consolidated results filed with the National Stock Exchange on 4 November 2026. That is 5.1% higher than the Rs 5,743.25 crore in the same quarter a year earlier.

What Happened

In its filing with the National Stock Exchange, the company reported consolidated figures. All amounts below are in rupees crore, as the filing gives them.

Revenue from operations was Rs 29,044.48 crore, against Rs 28,890.24 crore in the September 2025 quarter (up 0.5%) and Rs 28,526.86 crore in the June 2026 quarter (up 1.8%). Interest income, the largest part, was Rs 28,338.76 crore.

Total profit for the period, before it is split between the owners of the company and non-controlling interests, was Rs 7,681.51 crore. That is 2.0% lower than Rs 7,834.39 crore a year earlier and 14.6% lower than Rs 8,997.92 crore in the previous quarter.

Profit attributable to the owners of the company, the figure used in the headline, was 13.9% lower than the Rs 7,012.01 crore reported for the June 2026 quarter. The filing shows a credit of Rs 1,522.59 crore under impairment on financial instruments in the June 2026 quarter, against a charge of Rs 172.38 crore in the September 2026 quarter.

Finance costs were Rs 18,057.75 crore, against Rs 17,313.68 crore a year earlier.

For the half year ended 30 September 2026, the filing reports revenue from operations of Rs 57,571.34 crore and profit attributable to owners of Rs 13,046.29 crore, compared with Rs 57,429.28 crore and Rs 12,609.51 crore in the same period of 2025.

The results are unaudited and carry the limited review report of the company's joint statutory auditors, who say their conclusion is not modified.

What It Means

For readers who hold PFC shares or its bonds, the filing is the company's own statement of how its group performed in the latest quarter. Profit rose against the same quarter last year but fell against the previous quarter, partly because the earlier quarter included the large credit under impairment noted above.

The figures are the company's unaudited numbers. Full results, including the notes and the auditors' report, are in the filing on the National Stock Exchange's website. Complaints against listed companies can be made at https://scores.sebi.gov.in.
