InterGlobe Aviation Limited, which operates IndiGo, reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 1,878.6 crore for the quarter ended 30 September 2026 (Q2 FY27), according to its filing with the National Stock Exchange. The loss is smaller than the Rs 2,581.7 crore loss in the same quarter a year earlier, but larger than the Rs 237.6 crore loss in the previous quarter. Revenue from operations rose 25.9% from a year earlier.

What Happened

The company said in the filing that its board approved the unaudited standalone and consolidated results for the quarter and half year ended 30 September 2026 at a meeting on 29 October 2026. The figures below are consolidated and are for the profit attributable to the owners of the company.

  • Revenue from operations: Rs 23,363.8 crore, up 25.9% from Rs 18,555.3 crore a year earlier and down 5.0% from Rs 24,584.1 crore in the quarter ended 30 June 2026.
  • Net loss: Rs 1,878.6 crore, against a loss of Rs 2,581.7 crore a year earlier and Rs 237.6 crore in the previous quarter.
  • Total income: Rs 24,311.9 crore, including other income of Rs 948.1 crore.
  • Total expenses: Rs 26,188.4 crore, against Rs 22,081.2 crore a year earlier.

Aircraft fuel expenses were Rs 9,966.8 crore, up 67.2% from Rs 5,961.8 crore a year earlier. The filing's notes say the government introduced a cap on aviation turbine fuel prices, at 25% over March 2026 declared prices, which oil marketing companies applied to domestic airlines from 1 April 2026 to 8 June 2026. From 9 June 2026 a Price Stabilisation Fund scheme was announced; the company said it chose not to take part and paid fuel costs at prevailing market prices under its contracts.

The company booked a net foreign exchange loss of Rs 1,333.2 crore in the quarter, against Rs 2,892.1 crore a year earlier. Loss per share was Rs 48.58.

For the half year ended 30 September 2026, revenue from operations was Rs 47,947.9 crore, up from Rs 39,051.6 crore a year earlier, and the net loss attributable to owners was Rs 2,116.2 crore, against Rs 405.4 crore.

What It Means

For shareholders, the filing shows a second straight quarterly loss, though smaller than in the same quarter last year. Revenue fell from the April-June quarter, while the cost of aircraft fuel was far higher than a year ago.

The filing's notes also record that the Competition Commission of India, in an order dated 23 July 2026, kept in abeyance an investigation into the company's domestic operations while it considers commitments proposed by the company. The company said it has made no provision for the matter because the outcome is awaited.

The results are unaudited and have been subjected to a limited review by the company's statutory auditors. The full filing is linked below.
