What It Means
GST is the tax built into the price of most goods and services a household buys, so collections are a broad sign of spending and business activity. The October figures show both domestic collections and import GST rising faster than a year earlier, while refunds grew more slowly.
The GST Network says the numbers are provisional and may vary slightly when they are finalised. The release does not change any tax rate or filing deadline for taxpayers.
