City Union Bank said in a press release filed with the National Stock Exchange that its standalone profit after tax for the quarter ended 30 September 2026 (Q2 FY27) was Rs 416 crore, against Rs 329 crore a year earlier. That is a rise of 26.4% worked out from the table; the bank's release rounds the growth to 27%. The board approved the unaudited results on 28 October 2026.

What Happened

The figures below are standalone and in Rs crore, as the bank's release gives them.

Net interest income, the gap between interest earned and interest paid, was Rs 873 crore, against Rs 667 crore a year earlier, a rise of 30.9%. Total income was Rs 2,442 crore, up 27.7% from Rs 1,912 crore. Operating profit was Rs 661 crore, up 40.3% from Rs 471 crore.

The release also gives half-year figures. Working from those, the previous quarter's profit after tax was about Rs 382 crore (Rs 798 crore for the half year less Rs 416 crore), so the latest quarter's profit is about 8.9% higher. For the half year ended 30 September 2026, profit after tax was Rs 798 crore, against Rs 635 crore a year earlier.

On provisions, the bank said it provided Rs 120 crore for bad debts, against Rs 110 crore a year earlier, along with Rs 27 crore for standard assets and a contingent provision of Rs 50 crore this quarter.

Total deposits were Rs 83,893 crore, up from Rs 69,486 crore a year earlier. Advances were Rs 72,442 crore, up 25.9% from Rs 57,561 crore. Gross non-performing assets were Rs 1,043 crore, or 1.44% of advances, against 1.73% at the end of June 2026 and 2.42% a year earlier. Net non-performing assets were 0.48%, against 0.90% a year earlier. The bank gave its net interest margin as 3.87%, against 3.63%, and its capital adequacy ratio as 21.26% under Basel III norms.

What It Means

The release reports the bank's own results and asset-quality figures. Lower gross and net bad-loan ratios mean a smaller share of the bank's loans were classed as non-performing than a year earlier. Quarterly results are unaudited. This report states what the bank disclosed and does not forecast results.
