Intellectual Property Policy

1. Ownership of Platform Content and Technology
All intellectual property on the Oquilia Platform is owned by Oquilia and its founders unless explicitly stated otherwise. This includes, but is not limited to:
- The Oquilia name, logo, tagline (“See through the fine print”), and all associated brand assets.
- The Oquilia Score methodology— the composite scoring system used to evaluate insurance companies and plans across dimensions including claims settlement behaviour, network reach, product quality, and policy transparency.
- The Policy DNA engine— our proprietary framework for parsing, structuring, and presenting insurance policy wordings in a standardised, consumer-readable format, including the taxonomy of clauses, exclusion categories, and Gotcha Alert classification system.
- The logic, formulas, and implementation of all financial calculators on the Platform, including adaptations and combinations of standard financial formulas as applied to Indian financial products and tax laws.
- All written content on the Platform, including editorial analysis, product reviews, explanatory guides, FAQs, blog posts, and data commentary.
- The design, layout, user interface, visual elements, icons, illustrations, and overall aesthetic of the Platform.
- The codebase, software architecture, and data schemas underlying the Platform.
2. Third-Party Data and Attribution
Oquilia draws on publicly available data from regulatory authorities and industry bodies to support its analysis. We provide attribution for all such sources. The following data sources are used and are not owned by Oquilia:
- IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India): Annual reports, Handbook on Indian Insurance Statistics, claims settlement ratios, network hospital data, and policy wording guidelines. Source: irdai.gov.in.
- SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India): Mutual fund scheme data, AMFI-registered adviser directories, and investment product regulations. Source: sebi.gov.in.
- AMFI (Association of Mutual Funds in India): NAV data, fund house AUM statistics, and scheme information documents. Source: amfiindia.com.
- RBI (Reserve Bank of India): Policy rates, bank FD benchmark rates, inflation data, and financial stability reports. Source: rbi.org.in.
- Income Tax Department of India: Tax slabs, deduction limits, TDS provisions, and advance tax schedules. Source: incometax.gov.in.
Data from these sources is used in accordance with their respective terms of publication. We transform, enrich, and present this data through our own editorial and analytical work. The derivative presentation, analysis, and commentary on third-party data is owned by Oquilia.
3. Permitted Use
You are welcome to use the Oquilia Platform for personal, educational, and non-commercial research purposes. The following uses of our content are permitted with proper attribution:
- Sharing links to Oquilia pages on social media, blogs, or publications.
- Quoting brief excerpts from our articles or analyses (not to exceed 150 words) with a clear citation and a link back to the original page.
- Using our calculators for personal financial planning and sharing calculator results for non-commercial purposes.
4. Prohibited Use
The following uses are expressly prohibited without prior written consent from Oquilia:
- Reproducing, copying, or republishing substantial portions of our content on any website, publication, or platform.
- Replicating or reverse-engineering the Oquilia Score methodology, Policy DNA engine, or calculator logic.
- Scraping, crawling, or systematically downloading content or data from the Platform.
- Using our brand name, logo, or trademarks in any context that implies endorsement, partnership, or affiliation without written agreement.
- Incorporating our content or tools into a competing product or commercial service.
5. How to Report an IP Issue
If you believe your intellectual property rights have been infringed by content on the Oquilia Platform, or if you wish to request permission for a use not covered by Section 3 above, please contact us at legal@oquilia.com. Please provide a description of the alleged infringement, the specific URL on Oquilia where it appears, and your contact details. We will review all valid reports and respond within 10 business days.
6. Governing Law
Intellectual property rights in Oquilia's content and technology are protected under the Copyright Act 1957, the Trade Marks Act 1999, and other applicable Indian and international intellectual property laws. Disputes relating to IP ownership or infringement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in New Delhi, India.
